Londorossi to Mti Mkubwa
You will drive to the western gate and begin your trek in a quiet, undisturbed rainforest. The sounds of nature surround you as you hike to your first camp under towering trees.

Arrive at camp to find your 4-season tent set up. Unwind on your thick sleeping mat and enjoy a chef-prepared dinner in the mess tent.

Mti Mkubwa to Shira 1
Climbing out of the forest, you will step onto the Shira Plateau. The trail opens up into vast moorlands, offering incredible, expansive views of the mountain ahead.

Settle into your tent on the plateau. Wash up at the hot water basin and join your team for hot tea and snacks.

Shira 1 to Shira 2
Today is a beautiful, gentle hike across the plateau. You will have plenty of time to take photos, explore volcanic rock formations, and let your body comfortably adjust to the altitude.

Enjoy the sunset from your foldable camp chair. This extra day of acclimatization is what makes the 8-day route so successful.

Shira 2 to Barranco Camp
You will hike up to the Lava Tower at 4,600m to acclimatize, then descend into the Barranco Valley. This method of climbing high and sleeping low is crucial for your body.

Camp in a lush valley surrounded by strange, towering plants. Enjoy a massive, nutritious dinner served on proper crockery in the dining tent.

Barranco to Karanga Camp
Tackle the fun and exciting scramble up the Barranco Wall. Once at the top, you will traverse into the Karanga Valley for a well-earned afternoon of rest.

Karanga to Barafu Camp
A short, stark hike takes you into the alpine desert and up to Barafu Camp. This is your launchpad for the summit. You will rest, hydrate, and prepare your gear for the midnight climb.

This is a rugged, rocky base camp. Your crew will make sure you are fed and tucked into your warm sleeping bag while the sun is still up.

Summit and Mweka Camp
You will push through the final, steepest section under the stars. Reaching Uhuru Peak at dawn is a feeling of pure triumph! Afterward, you'll descend all the way back to the treeline at Mweka Camp.
